Our Plan

If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.

Our Strategic Plan 2022 to 2025

At the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO our work is guided by the priority areas identified in our Strategic Plan.

We develop our Strategic Plan every three years, informed by UNESCO’s objectives and global priorities, but tailored to the New Zealand context.

The priority areas that we outline on this website are taken from our 2022 to 2025 Strategic Plan.

The actions that drive us

Our Strategic Plan is driven by the following priority areas:

  1. Empowering Communities for Sustainable Futures.
  2. Freedom of Responsible Expression.
  3. Indigenous Knowledge and the UN Decade of Indigenous Languages.
  4. Oceans for the Wellbeing of People and the Planet.
  5. Our UNESCO programmes.
