Our Plan

If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.

Our Strategic Plan 2026 to 2029

At the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO our work is guided by the key themes identified in our Strategic Plan.

We develop our Strategic Plan every three years, informed by UNESCO’s objectives and global priorities, but tailored to the New Zealand context.

The key themes that we outline on this website are taken from our 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan.

The actions that drive us

Our Strategic Plan is driven by the following key themes:

  1. Climate Action
  2. Safe Digital Environments
  3. Indigenous Knowledge/Mātauranga Māori
  4. Literacy and lifelong learning
  5. Strong Social Fabrics and Cohesion
