Tackling Racism in Sport

The NZ National Commission for UNESCO “Tackling Racism in Sport” funding project is a programme including resources and communication tools to reduce racism and promote meaningful and sustainable social cohesion within a sporting context.

The Racism in Football in Aotearoa research report draws on qualitative data from 18 self-selected participants to understand what racism in football looks and feels like. Their experiences have generated a series of emerging insights and opportunities that will be used as a basis to design other initiatives to further work in this area.

The research report has received coverage in local media including the following article: Children as young as eight racially abused at football games - Auckland club study | Stuff.co.nz
