Carolyn is a member of the University of Auckland/NIWA Joint Graduate School in Marine and Coastal Science, based primarily in the Marine Ecology group at NIWA Hamilton where she is a Principal Scientist (since 2016). She is a member of the United Nations IPBES Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP) and serves as Co-Chair of the IPBES Task force on scenarios and models.
Carolyn is a researcher in the Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge, and leader of Sustainable Seas projects 1.2 (Spatially Explicit Cumulative Effects Decision Support Tools) and S1 (Hawke's Bay EBM case study). She regularly supervises graduate students interested in novel applications of models and empirical data to developing solutions for coastal and ocean management from local to national to global scales.
