UNESCO Prize for Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education

UNESCO Prize

Nominations for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education are now open.

Funded by the Kingdom of Bahrain and established in 2005, the Prize rewards projects that use digital technologies to enhance learning and teaching.

In 2026, the Prize will focus on the theme “Reimagining creativity and critical thinking with artificial intelligence”, rewarding projects that demonstrate how, across diverse contexts, teachers and learners are engaging with AI systems in ways that preserve their capacity for reasoning, discernment and imagination.

An international jury will select the two best projects, and each prize winner will be awarded 25,000 USD.

Application and Selection Process

The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO can endorse up to three projects and has implemented a selection process.

For those interested in applying for the UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education please email a short summary of your project to the New Zealand National Commission at: UNESCO.NZ@education.govt.nz.

We will then send you a form to complete for National Commission review by 21 April, 5pm.
