It was the National Commission’s great pleasure to welcome the Assistant Director General Natural Sciences, Dr Flavia Schlegel to New Zealand in March.
Dr Schlegel was in New Zealand as part of a three week visit to the Pacific region, participating in a workshop organised by the International Network for Government Science Advice in Auckland and the 150th anniversary celebrations of the New Zealand Royal Society in Wellington.
While in Wellington she met with the Chair, Natural Sciences Commissioner and the Secretary General. We were able to introduce her to representatives from Nature Through Arts Collective who presented their Imagine My City initiative (funded by the National Commission) and a Department of Conservation representative who presented the Predator Free programme. Discussions included the UNESCO and National Commission natural science priorities, work programmes and activities.
