Around the world, National Commissions connect governments and UNESCO to each country’s educational, academic, scientific and cultural communities.
The NZ National Commission partners with and liaises with people and organisations representing UNESCO’s mandate to help build peace through dialogue.
The National Commission is uniquely placed to bring people from different disciplines together, providing space and time to foster meaningful dialogue. It provides funding and support for sustainable projects which are aligned to areas of focus. New Zealand has established a UNESCO Chairs Programme to promote international inter-university cooperation and networking.
